Hannabou and the Run Race for Children

Contributions from the Race to Robie Creek have funded improvements

in a small village (Hannabou) in Morocco, Northern Africa. The

following pictures show some of the improvements. They also show the

first annual Run Race for Children which started at the local Sbitar

(Hospital) and finished at the village's Mosque.

Hannabou is a village of approximately 6,000 people with the vast

majority being Muslim. It is a very peaceful village. Almost 100 boys

and girls participated in the race. It has since become a yearly

event with nearly double the number of runners in 2006. Contributions

help support the local Neddy (Kindergarten) and bought desks and

tables for the classrooms. ...previously all the students had to sit

on the floor. Funds also supported a library, with both English and

Arabic books. The village also purchased sewing machines to help a

vocational program for girls.

Returned Peace Corps volunteers, who are also Rocky Canyon Sailtoads,

nominated the village as worthy of our support.
